The Brahmaputra Darshan Festival aims at projecting the Brahmaputra River as a symbol of integrity and communal harmony. The river Brahmaputra which originates at Manas Sarovar flows eastward through snow-capped rough mountains and gorges of great Himalaya in Tibet and enters into India through Arunachal
Pradesh. In Tibet it is known as Tsangpo, while in Arunachal Pradesh it is known as
Siang. The river Dibang which flows through Dibang Valley and Lower Dibang Valley districts, and the river Lohit or
Lohitya, that flows through Lohit district meet with river Siang and take its name Brahmaputra at the point of confluence. |
